Days after Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux announced that it was adding beignet sliders to its menu in May, another Drew-Brees backed business posted it would create a beignet slider with help from Cafe Du Monde, a New Orleans institution.
But there was one catch — it was just a joke.
Small Sliders and Cafe Du Monde entered a fake partnership for April Fool’s announcing on social media that the companies would make a beignet slider with pickles and cheese.
But some fans wanted it to be real.
“WHY WOULD YALL DO THIS TO US?!😭 MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR REAL!!” Instagram user @abbiehovater said.
A representative for Small Sliders confirmed that the post was a prank, and there’s no plan to add a beignet slider to the menu Cafe Du Monde or Small Sliders.
But based on response, the representative joked they may need to consider making this partnership a reality.
